“Hung Up On My Baby” must qualify as eternal at this point, considering it’s gotten a new lease on life every few decades or so. The timeline:

1974
Isaac Hayes releases this instrumental gem, with its unmistakable guitar riff and big fat brass, as part of the soundtrack to Tough Guys — Hayes’ first film role, coincidentally.

1991
Geto Boys mine the best parts of “Baby” to craft their gangster paranoia anthem “Mind Playing Tricks On Me.” The result: a hip-hop classic.

2008
Indie disco duo Glass Candy sample the sample in their aptly titled “Geto Boys.” Topping off the borrowfest are lyrics pulled from the The Dixie Cups’ “Iko Iko.”
