Brooklyn-based sisters Taraka and Nimai Larson (aka Prince Rama) were raised in a Hare Krishna commune in Florida — or so Wikipedia would have us believe. If said upbringing affected their musical inclinations, cheers to that. Their single “So Destroyed,” an exercise in jangly psychedelia, is one of the more compelling things I’ve heard in some time.

But their strange storyline goes further: the record it comes from, Top Ten Hits of the End of the World, is an apocalyptic musical experiment of sorts. On it, Prince Rama assumes the guises of several different fictitious pop bands, all of which were destroyed when the world ended — an excuse to go wild in multiple directions, I suppose.
