Brooklyn-based DIIV’s (pronounced “dive”) debut album, Oshin, is a solid if somewhat slow-moving rock record, distinguished by bright, jangling guitars. “Doused” is its big triumph, however: compared to the rest of the album, it runs at breakneck speed. The song was revealed to be fairly epic in a live setting as well — they closed their set with it when I saw them open for Grimes and Wild Nothing last week, a smart move that seemed to shock the mostly uninterested crowd (alas, free shows) into paying attention. You can see images from the show here.
