A very blue David Levesque and co.

This weekend I had the pleasure of seeing a brief but promising set from the impossibly talented Levek at Brooklyn’s Glasslands. Though I was slightly disappointed not to hear songs like “Geographic John” and “Loon and the Lion” (both are on his demo, both are amazing), what I did hear was an even richer evolution of the band’s sound — they’re making forays into bossa nova territory and introducing clarinet in spots, all seamless additions to their uniquely earthy percussion.

The band is now made up of entirely new players, aside from frontman David Levesque, and it’s clear he’s chosen his new companions wisely — I’m looking forward to the new record, coming out in September. Below, listen to the first single, “Black Mold Grow.”
