1995 brought us Jagged Little Pill, a favorite of angsty ’90s teens with perfection complexes and scumbag boyfriends and penchants for semi-squeaky singing. As you may recall, single “Ironic” was known not only for its singalong chorus, but also for the multiple slaps on the wrist dealt to Morrissette from English professors et al who took issue with the song’s improper use of the term (fyi: having spoons, needing knife = not ironic).

The video showcased a wintry road trip in which four Alanises have an extraordinarily excellent time in their Lincoln, eating snacks, hanging out the window (which clearly telegraphs “fun”), throwing things at each other, and writhing around in a way that makes me concerned. They also fail to realize that they are actually all the same person until the car runs out of gas and three of them disappear. Oh imaginary friends!
