I recently came across this PBS video about the evolution of music since the ’90s, part of a larger web-documentary series. Essentially, it’s explaining how curators are now critical to the music universe, since the old modes of delivery have been eclipsed by the internet. It features, among others, a senior editor at Pitchfork, the founder of blog-aggregator Hype Machine, and exactly zero women, which frankly bothered the hell out of me. I will not comment on the extraordinarily douchey rock-star shots that introduce each of them. Needless to say, I could not focus on the message, blinded by rage as I was.

Thanks, PBS, for presenting the music universe as a bearded boys’ club.
