Today we reflect on the 1993 one-hit-wonder no one could sing along to — and that’s only partly because the chorus has no words.

What the hell the Crash Test Dummies were talking about is really a question for the ages. Birthmarks all over her body? His hair had turned from black into bright white? Whatever.

Nor do I know what to make of anything happening in this video, least of all what appears to be a play involving children speaking in tongues at church. But what I can tell you is that the singer is sure as hell working it. Watch how his nostrils flare when he hums the chorus. And check the pursed lips and sidelong camera glance at 2:54. YEAH.

For a song that doesn’t really make any goddamn sense, it sure feels scarily serious. That AAAAAAA ending is epic. Something is happening! This is important! We’re not just a soon-to-be-washed-up 90s band with a kooky Anthony-Kiedis-wannabe frontman!

What I’m trying to say is I actually really enjoy this song. Even if I am kind of incoherent about it. So there.

Crash test Dummies, I came to discover, apparently put out multiple albums after mmming their way to minor stardom, even one as recently as last year. It was called Oooh La La! I shit you not.

From the Wikipedia page for Crash Test Dummies:

Hiatus and Oooh La La: 2006-present

“After releasing three records through his own label, Roberts began to realize that he was starting to lose money.”

It took him 3 albums?
