Italian group Calibro 35 makes music for movies that don’t exist. Songs for car chases and love scenes, the occasional Ennio Morricone cover — such are the offerings on their album RARE, which I’ve been digging of late.

The band mines ’60s and ’70s soundtracks for musical fodder, and the result is the sound of some hyperchic cocktail party with lots of fake eyelashes and brightly colored A-line dresses where something untoward is happening in secret by the cabanas.

Hear more at their appropriately movie-postery site.
