Flashback Friday: Put All Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See by Steele

Aside from sampling, was there any one greater influence on 90s rap culture than the fisheye lens? And truly, the fisheye lens found its muse in Busta Rhymes, possibly the weirdest mainstream hip-hop artist of that decade.

I always loved this song’s sinister, ominously quiet beat, and the bizarre video is a perfect match. Rhymes’s herky-jerky contortions and all the stop-start movements are unsettling, somehow, in a good way. And if you liked Busta running down a hallway with an elephant, you’re going to love the spooky glow-in-the-dark voodoo beach party.

This flcker was an event in ’97. I remember that shit. Busta pretty much ran hip hop videos for a 2 year period. And correct me if I’m wrong Steele, but wasn’t it Busta that started utilizing the fish-eye lens thang, and then everybody bit off him?
