don't you tell me how i feel.

It’s bad by Steele

As consequential and world-altering as a ton of styrofoam bricks, Michael Jackson’s new posthumous single has dropped. I’m in no way suggesting that you listen to the whole thing (seriously, don’t), because the opening salvo is enough to give you a sense of the overall message. Jacko fans will hate that I even made them aware of this. He name-checks himself repeatedly, which is really weird even for him. And the lyrics! Oh Christ. Take the opening lines!: “Everybody wanting a piece of Michael Jackson, reporters stalking the moves of Michael Jackson.” OMG LOL WTF 4 EVER!

Then there’s the vocals. As a DJ on my local hip-hop station opined this morning, “that isn’t Michael Jackson. That’s (producer) Rodney Jerkins, trying to make back some of the money he lost on that Invincible album, and singing through that thing T-Pain uses.” I have to admit that some piece of this theory has the ring of truth.

But what do I know? Here at Don’t You Tell Me How I Feel, there’s one thing we definitely don’t want to tell you, and that’s how you feel. Let’s put this to a vote.
