Gonjasufi, he of the wavery old-man voice, is simultaneously creepy and riveting, crooning over music-box accompaniment about wishing he was a sheep one minute, growling over a truly evil bassline the next. If you’ve ever heard anything like this…well I’ll be damned. Clearly he is from another planet. Although according to Wikipedia, he lives in Las Vegas and moonlights as a yoga teacher.

Anyway, when the remix album of his debut, A Sufi and A Killer, came out recently on Warp records, I was unsurprised that people would want to get their hands on some of his awesomeness. But wIth the exception of Bibio’s remix of “Candylane,” it offered little of interest. I immediately returned to the original album to remind myself how little in need of remixing it was — cleanse the palate and whatnot.

Have a listen.
